Message From Prostate Cancer Centre

In Alberta, prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in men. Annually an estimated 2500 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and every week eight men die from the disease. There are no warning signs of prostate cancer in its early stages. If caught early this cancer is easily treated and if undetected until later stages can be fatal.

The Prostate Cancer Centre was designed for men and their families and has been at the forefront of prostate health in Calgary since 1999. The Centre offers one-stop services for prostate cancer and begins with awareness and education in the community through the MAN VAN™, the first mobile PSA blood clinic in Canada. Men suspected of prostate cancer have quick access to diagnosis services through our Rapid Access clinics. A complete range of treatment options are available and several patient focused programs have been created to support and guide men and their loved ones throughout the journey. We also provide medical aftercare for the prostate cancer patient and support through peers who have also completed the cancer journey.

The Prostate Cancer Centre moved into the Southern Alberta Institute of Urology in 2010 and is located at the Rockyview General Hospital. We receive no government funding and operate solely on the generosity of our community, donors and sponsors.

The Par 4 Prostate tournament was created by prostate cancer graduates and held at Lynx Ridge for over ten years. Many cancer patients and friends enjoyed the great golfing and atmosphere and the members of Lynx Ridge still wanted to support this important men's cause and resurrect the tournament on an even larger scale.
